Reyna's Photo Gallery
Forever My Friends

Over the years, it is very consoling for her adopted parents to have Reyna’s friends still keeping in touch especially in times of extreme sadness and grief. Most of her friends keep a record of how Reyna had touched their lives.

Reyna’s friends like Jackie Archer (now married), Katie Andrews (now working on her master’s degree in geology), Allanah Boullivant (now an anthropologist), Matthew Barnes (now an audio engineer), Ruth Wightman (now a full scholar doing her master’s degree), Liberty Scott (now married in the USA), Marjorein Baas (now a qualified nanny working in the States), the Cabana family in the USA, the Arcega family (Aileen and Rebecca), the Baas family, Hester Van der Werff (now married), peers, and relations have kept in touch.

And more recently, after so many years, Reyna’s parents were pleasantly surprised when Ben Gilbert, her classmate and a very special friend came for a visit. They only know the young lad through Reyna’s description. He is a good, well-focused young man now. Ben taught Reyna (by phone and then by e-mail) the technicalities of the computer and the rigmarole of e-mailing and wonders of the Internet . They e-mailed each other a lot, and were both avid watchers of the X-File series. Ben kept a copy of most of their e-mails which he shared with her parents to console them. Reyna was starting to dabble with computer painting and digitally-enhanced graphics a few weeks before she died.

Katie Andrews and her lovely parents have been in constant touch, too. Katie. has a collection of things given by Reyna. as well as about Reyna that go with it There are some Christmas bells, a drawing that Reyna did for her ages ago of a book worm. There are some party poppers that she included in her collections for New Year 2000, 3 strings of beautiful shells from the Philippines, and along with the ribbon from the bouquet she got on graduation in 2001 plus a few other things that belong with the photos as well.

Allanah Boullivant wrote a very touching and consoling letter to Reyna’s parents and a beautiful poem for Reyna. In College, Reyna used to say she’d take up BSc at Victoria Uni with a double major: Horticulture and Anthropology. Allanah must have influenced Reyna’s future plans because Reyna hoped to go to the same Uni with her. Allanah completed her BSc from Victoria U in 2000, and is now a qualified anthropologist..

Jackie Archer, one of her best friends, her pal and soul mate never tire of helping her adopted Mum put up this web page. With her knowledge in photography and computer photo editing facility, Jackie produced a digitally enhanced family portrait of the Gerard family which Reyna wanted so much to be a part of. Jackie was able to fulfilled that dream of Reyna’s. Jackie also made a special booklet putting in all her and some of their classmates’thoughts and their memories about Reyna. Jackie has one part of a Ying-Yang ring which she shared, and Reyna kept the other half.

Kate Barry, Reyna’s dear friend and classmate at the college was so saddened by her loss that she wrote a poem as a tribute to her. Kate Barry is now in England.

Sonja Johnstone, in her moment of grief, wrote a short message in recognising Reyna’s personality and talent in art.

Keriana Tracey, who Reyna considered a very good artist, wrote a poem about her demise and, together with some friends, made an acrostic about what the name Reyna means to them.

Mrs. Gloria McDonald was Reyna's first teacher. She often talked about Reyna and liked to praise her. She often said Reyna would grow into a beautiful young lady.

Hester Van der Werff, Reyna’s school friend, in her letter to Reyna’s parents, wrote, ‘I have found that in my sorrow over the death of Reyna, no words of comfort are more precious to me than those of the Bible, and I hope that you will find the same.

“God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though
the earth should change,
And though the mountains slip
into the heart of the sea.” … Psalm 46:1,2

… God give you strength and peace to face the years ahead.’
